I’M THE ONE WITH ELEGANCE AND POWER…
One moment you’re upside down, spinning around a bar metres off the ground. The next, you are demonstrating perfect balance, somersaulting along a beam no wider than the length of an iPhone…
Women’s artistic is a beautiful type of gymnastics to be involved in, whether you are an experienced performer or taking your first steps in the sport. You get to discover four separate activities, each one requiring a routine full of elegant moves that show off your strength, skill and control. Whatever your age and ability level, it is easy to get started in women’s artistic gymnastics.
As you are starting out, you will learn core skills and the basics of the four activities (the vault, the uneven bars, the beam and the floor). You will slowly build your strength and skill until you can perform some seriously breath-taking moves. If you want, you can even enter the competitions for your age group.

Our Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) program trains girls for three levels of competition: Provincial, National and Elite. We follow the Women’s Junior Olympic Program (JO), which is based on the idea that all athletes must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows each gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than on level in a year, if she meets the criteria.
Our younger JO members are in a 12 month competitive program and train 3 hours, twice a week.
Once our gymnasts get to higher JO levels, they train with us 3 or more times a week in a year-round program. They devote 9 to 21 hours to training each week, depending on their degree of commitment and competition goals.
We place our athletes in training groups according to their age, ability, number of days committed to training per week, and their competitive goals. These goals are set in consultation with their coaches and the options open to them at their age.
Competitions: Provincial level competitions are governed by Gymnastics BC. These competitions are a good fit for new competitors and gymnasts who want to train for fewer hours.
National and Elite competitions are governed by Gymnastics Canada and they provide opportunities for interprovincial and international competition. Gymnasts who compete at this level train for many hours and have a high-skill level. Their goals may include joining Team Canada!
Who is this program for? Girls with a strong work ethic who enjoy competing, want to develop high-level gymnastics skills, and who are committed to training three times a week or more. The WAG program is by invitation or assessment only. Please contact Member Services to arrange an assessment for this program.
How do I register? Programs run from September to August (12 mos). Admittance into the program is generally for a summer of September start. You may register online, in person, or by phone.
